Actress and author Katie Dale loves nothing more than creating characters – both on page and on-stage! After gaining a 1st class degree in English Literature from Sheffield University (to keep her parents happy) she followed her dream of going to drama school, toured the country as Juliet in ROMEO AND JULIET, then was back-packing through South-East Asia, when she was chosen as a winner of the Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators’ UNDISCOVERED VOICES competition, which launched her writing career.

Her debut YA/Crossover novel, emotional rollercoaster SOMEONE ELSE’S LIFE (published by Simon & Schuster UK, Delacorte Press USA) follows the story of a teenage girl who discovers she was switched at birth, and won both the Stockport Mad About Books Award and Oldham Brilliant Books Award.

Her second YA novel, LITTLE WHITE LIES, is a thriller about a girl who starts (Sheffield) university under a false identity in pursuit of justice for her family, and won both the UKYA Bloggers’ Award for Best Ending, and Barnes and Noble’s “Award for Best Ensemble of Liars in a Drama”!

MUMNESIA, Katie’s first middle grade novel (published by Macmillan) is a comedy-drama described as “FreakyFriday for the 21st century – without magic!” It follows the chaos that ensues when twelve-year-old Lucy’s overbearing mother gets amnesia – and suddenly thinks she’s also twelve years old, and time-travelling from the 1980s!
